The opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join Scottish Enterprise’s Graduate Development Programme as a Business Analyst. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team of digital specialists creating a product or service. You’ll also work with a Service Delivery Manager to see how this product or service is delivered effectively. It’s your chance to develop your skills in a fast-track environment alongside experienced Business Analysts.

The role

Scottish Enterprise’s digital products are the ‘shopfront’ to the services we provide to businesses. You’ll join the teams who evolve these so they meet the changing needs of our users. As a Business Analyst, you’ll learn to combine a unique blend of technical and people skills that help you understand and analyse customers’ needs, identify problems and help develop the right solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching a business’ challenges, people, processes, IT, infrastructure and other factors so you can understand and analyse their needs and opportunities
  • Identifying areas for improvement, exploring feasible options, analysing the effects of changes and defining measures for success
  • Understanding any business and policy constraints and assessing the implications of these
  • Ensuring new products and services meet business and user needs in line with organisational goals

Who we're looking for

You’ll be an enthusiastic graduate aiming to take on a Junior Business Analyst role at the end of this two-year programme. We’ll help you work towards that goal by equipping you with any skills you don’t already have. For now, we’ll expect you to bring us the following skills, experience, traits and strengths:

  • Qualifications or skills and experience at SCQF Level 9 as a minimum (e.g. BA/Ordinary Degree, Graduate Diploma or SVQ at SCQF Level 9)
  • You enjoy working with people, understanding their needs and turning these into requirements
  • You like researching problems, exploring solutions and giving reasons for your decisions
  • You take a structured approach to progressing through work and making recommendations
  • You’re a skilled team player who understands your own and others’ strengths and weaknesses
  • You believe in getting the best from everyone, ensuring diversity of thought informs solutions
  • You always want to know why things are how they are so you can try to improve on them

What we offer

If successful, you'll gain access to the following benefits:

  • Membership of the Scottish Enterprise Pension and Life Assurance Scheme – a pension based on your final pensionable salary, flexible retirement options and generous life assurance cover
  • Up to 43 annual leave days a year (including public holidays), with the opportunity to buy additional holidays
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A health cash plan
  • Our Employee Retail Benefits Scheme
  • Our Employee Assistance Scheme
